can be found at uk.food+drink.real-ale.
A Welsh Real Ale outlet
is based at the Meadow Farm Shop near Tintern.
A useful site for all kinds of beer related
information is the British
Beer & Pub Association while SIBA represents
small, independent breweries.
Cask
Marque is an organisation which was set up to encourage
landlords to keep high quality real ale.
Steven Williams is curator of The
National Pub & Brewery History Website.
There is a fairly local group of individuals who are
dedicated to supping real ale and who go by the name of RATS - the Real Ale Tasting
Society - more info from sec-RAT-ary David Jones.
Cider and perry lovers should look at the website of
the Welsh Cider
Society (Cymdeithas Seidr Cymru).
An excellent set of links to local pub guides,
breweries, etc. can be found at http://somewherenear.com/staticpubguides.htm.
If you are interested in buying beer from the Wessex

when it is fully functional. In the meantime http://www.pti.org.uk
has some good information.
For rail travel use The TrainLine.

the railways of Wales, covering main line, private and narrow gauge is
at http://members.aol.com/WalesRails/index.htm.

The five local authorities which are covered by our
branch area are Newport,
Torfaen,
Monmouthshire, Islwyn
and Blaenau
Gwent.
For activities far more healthy than drinking beer see
the site for Newport
Outdoor Group, and for pastimes which do seem to involve
drinking copious quantities there are sites for Isca Morrismen
and Full Moon
Morris.
Walkers who are tackling the Offas Dyke footpath on
the Welsh - English border should look at http://www.offas-dyke.co.uk/index.htm.
Now within our branch area is Crosskeys
but this site has an excellent set of links to local and Welsh pages
and another one, based in Blackwood, is The Valley
Connection.
If you are interested in tracing your family tree have
a look at Gwent
